Reds: redspot, redfin, redline, cherry ...
Gold: tangerine, tippecanoe ...
Green: brighteye, ...
Blue: blueside, speckled, rainbow ...
All-of-the above: osburni !!!
Some species are colorful for only a few weeks or months, and rather plain the rest of the year. Which species retain color long-term in captivity is a different question. Rainbows, orangethroats, redlines are good in that respect. My bandeds from the NC convention have really nice green, especailly after water changes.

i would have to cast a vote for fully colored up speckled darters. That metallic blue and red spots... Wow!
Arrow Darters eat speckled darters for breakfast.

I don't know about speckleds, but Arrows certainly couldn't eat Candy darters. They'd be severely disadvantaged blind, considering a mere glance upon an osburni would burn their eyes out...

The fishes entire name begs to be eaten. I question your logic.

The neon green in E. zonale is very impressive.

I vote for Ashy. Not the most colorful over all, but the contrast is great.
