I imagine they might not be all that difficult to care for, either. The only difference I can imagine between them and other catfish would be that they might need much cleaner water, since they're used to what I believe is a fairly low-nutrient system. I imagine catfish have no trouble locating food while blind. Cave tetras do fine, and catfish have whiskers to help them out.

Never read anything about the cave tetras being especially sensitive to pollutants or much of anything else (flash floods can play havoc on cave water parameters and, being from a similar area, both of these species should encounter them on a regular basis), so I'd be careful saying that about the catfish. Otherwise agree with all the above...if you can ACQUIRE these cats, that is (which is open to question...didn't the article say they're considered endangered?)
