Greenside's will have an almost blunt snout and are quite large. They are the largest in the Etheostoma genus I believe. Banded's are smaller. Check out some photos as well.

Head/snout shape, width of bands (wider on greenside), and adult size.

Greensides typically have W shaped markings on their sides.

I have 6 banded darters. They're a smaller, thinner and more dainty fish VS the greenside darter.
