I attended the Lookout Wild Film Festival this weekend, well 4 days of 5 sessions averaging 3.5 hours of film per session.

That is a lot of films over 4 days!  They also played the short Hidden Rivers as a teaser to the upcoming 1 hour release of Hidden Rivers.  On April 4 it will premiere here in Chattanooga at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX.

This is the 4 minute teaser from 2013.  They have been returning to the region for years now filming much, much more above and below the surface.  Jeremy and David's video work is wonderful and a perfect testimony to what is available in our Southeastern waters.

I've probably seen this teaser trailer 100x and I still can't get enough!  Really looking forward to seeing the entire film.  Thanks for sharing, Casper.

It was a feature like this that got me interested in native fish. Some local show that came on PBS one time that showed underwater footage of shiners and darters. If I can find it again I think y'all would love it.

On the National Geographic channel i saw a recent hour long episode about the Smokey Mountains National Park.  ( One in a series about our National Parks. )  They had a bit of video of River Chub mound activity and the associated shiner spawnings.  It was nice but not enough to satisfy me.  They also featured synchronized fireflies which is of interest because of another series that is due to be released soon with similar subject matter.  I think you can watch this episode for free on the National Geographic website.  I met 2 of the German Videographers for the documentary a couple three years back while FWI's Jeremy, Dave and i were filming for the upcoming Hidden Rivers.

Here in Chattanooga the PBS station regularly shows a Freshwaters Illustrated FWI short film about the Tennessee Aquarium TNACI program.  I guess i have seen it a dozen plus times.  It is mostly to promote TNACI efforts.  Lake Sturgeon, Brook Trout, etc.  You can see a lot of cool FWI's videos on Vimeo.  Hellbenders, Sturgeon, Lampreys, Shrimp if you do a search.

The hour long premier of Hidden Rivers is now scheduled to be shown at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX on Thursday, April 4 from 6 - 8:30 with a reception of some sort, cocktails, appetizers and such.  They are charging $25. to attend. !  I would have hoped a Premier of this sort would have been free to the interested public to help promote interest as Hidden Rivers begins the film festival tour.  I was hoping friends, family and NANFans would attend but the cost, traveling and being a Thursday will likely minimize attendance me thinks.

The Tennessee Aquarium just published these two pages in their Spring Quarterly "River Watch".

I'll definitely check those out!

And I'd love to make the premiere, but being so far away I'd have to have more of a reason to go than one movie. Hopefully this spring is a nice one, then I could just convince my friends to do it as a camping trip haha

If you're interested in films like this one I've found this old gem from 85 that you might've or might not have seen yet (I've already watched it a few times myself )

I watched the film for the 3rd time Wednesday night in Murfeesboro.  A packed room at the Baymont, 125.

:)

After the screening Jeremy took questions and provided refreshments of Baskin-Robbins birthday cake and Dos Equis XX.
