Trying to see if I could catch myself an OSS at lake Erie, ohio or potentially, the Cuyahoga River in the national park. Anyone have any advice?

I would focus collection efforts to very shallow (2' to 6" deep) areas, especially those with minimal vegetation and turbidity promoted by wave action. The concrete pads of boat ramps are also productive in locations I sample.

Find ways for people not already interested in natives to value them.

I would concentrate on the Maumee River or Huron River. I don’t think they are in the Cuyahoga. They’re more comfortable in cloudy or turbid water like Centrarchid mentioned.

I catch them in the rivers around here in central Ohio. I think you'll have better luck in shallow stoney rivers. I caught one in the Olentangy.

I caught them in the Olentangy against a concrete bridge abutment near Ohio State. Pretty fish…
