Is it Lepomis? I've seen it both as Lepomis and a different name which it is under in American Aquarium Fishes. The other one starts with a c.
Accepted generic name for warmouth

It's Lepomis. Various lines of evidence, genetic and morphological, support keeping warmouths in Lepomis. Like the man said, don't believe the hype.

do you mean "Centrarchidae" (please correct me if i am wrong) is the family name?
so it would be Centrarchidae Lepomis gulosus, that would be in order, family, genus, species
Centrarchidae = family
Lepomis = genus
gulosus = species

Steve is referring to Chaenobryttus as an alternative genus assignment for Lepomis gulosus.

Yep. I just didn't have my American Aquarium Fishes book with me, and all I could remember was the first letter.
