I was watching the news last night, and they said something about a redhorse that had been rediscovered. They didn't mention the species, so I'm not sure what kind of redhorse it was. It had REALLY red fins, and it gets 30" long. I don't know if it was only "extinct" in GA, or if it was thought to be extinct throughout its range. The GA Aquarium is now going to breed them for reintroduction. Just thought I would let everyone know.

FWIW the people working on this have given talks at two of our Conventions. If you find this topic interesting, I would encourage you to drop a line to some of the people in your state working on this project and see how you can get involved. In GA, there's work going on in the Savannah and Altahama and on up the coast in any of the large coastal plain streams. Be persistent if you don't hear anything at first. They're busy folks and they may not realize the value of your help immediately
Man, if they could just decomission the primary dams on each of the rivers, there'd be a whole world of difference for these fish. Talk about getting stuffed into patch habitat for spawning.
