In my new 75 gal settup, I am going to have a Warmouth, a snail bullhead and I think i have room for a Shadow Bass, can anyone give me a rundown on feeding?
I know that warmouth, and bullheads will eat just about anything, i will be starting my feeder pond in the next few weeks so i will (hopefully) have a fairly constant stream of live gambusia and molly's to use as feeders by june or so.
thanks

Shadow bass will eat fish plain and simple. As far as them eating anything else I do not know because I only caught my first shadow bass this week and so far I have been able to find small enough gambusia for him. I have not tried the small cichlid pellets I have yet but I may throw some in there. I have my doubts though since he just has been taken from a wild environment.

Mine eat live food, frozen food, freeze dried food, flakes, and soft pellets. I think they are much easier to get off live food when young.

Wow dredcon that is good for me to know also. Since mine is under 1.25 inches I will try and used prepared foods on him. Like I mentioned in another thread on shadow bass before looking here I was wondering what else to feed my little fella. He is nice and I am like you dreadcon he is now one of my favorites. I have him in a fifteen gallon by himself now. How big can I expect him to get and what size tank is appropiate for an adult Shadow Bass. Thanks for any and all info you can supply very much.

The ones I had went crazy for Hikari Carnivore pellets. They wouldn't "beg" for food like my sunfish, but if you dropped a pellet by their hiding spot, BOOM!

We have 5 shadow bass in a 90g all about 2.3 inches long. They love carnivore pellets but they go absolutely insane over Tetra Freeze dried Krill. They well also of course eat small feeder guppies which makes feeding my sculpin somewhat difficult. The shadow bass don't seem to like any type of cichlid pellet though or freeze dried shrimp. Just the krill and hikari carnivore pellets. Tried discus food and hikari carnivore sticks also didnt like any of them either.
