I have a somewhat aggressive dollar sunfish by itself in a 20 gallon tank. It's about 2 1/2-3".
I have a 2" green sunfish in a 10 gallon that I am thinking of moving in with the dollar.
Is this a good idea?
Thanks

I don't think so.
In a 20 gallon tank, I'd have one or the other but not both. And I think it's too small a tank for a green sunfish anyway.
There's not really enough space in a tank that small for each of them to establish enough territory to settle down.

I think you could IF you have a lot of cover, this usually will help with any aggression problems. When I say a lot I mean to the point you can't always find the fish. I do think for the long term though that a little bigger tank would be good for the green to get up to its max size. Given time, space, and food a green can get 8+ inches. Dollars max out around 4 or 5 at most and could probably get that size in a 20. But being around 2-3" with lots of cover in the tank you can keep 4-5 lepomis sunfish in a 20 but they will need to be thinned and upgraded to larger tanks as they grow depending on species. I keep many more than that in 10's when they are very small 1-2" and spread them out as they get larger, but many of my tanks are so heavily planted you can't see through them, which cuts down on aggression and allows for a larger bioload in the tank.

This would be for grow out, assuming a stunted green sunfish can grow once removed from the cirumstances that stunted it.
I caught it out of a pond full of stunted green sunfish.
And I know that green sunfish can get much bigger as I have seen them much bigger elsewhere.

This tank has java fern and java moss in it for cover
