Yeah, I wasn't really prepared for a gar at the beach... it swam away briskly enough, I reckon there was no lasting harm done.Nice catch - I want one for my pond. Without the gaff through the jaw
Actually, a bunch of parasitic isopods abandoned ship, so to speak, while it was out of the water, so there may have been some benefit for the fish...

That's awesome, I'd love to see something like that!in blue springs state park Volusia cty fl, I swam with a pod 6-8 ft long, rather I swam they just hovered, very intimidating
