Dustin what's your thought on the fish labelled "comely shiner" ?
Chub w/o tubercles: i dunno about the slim head thing ... Help! Fritz!
I'm not sure I have ever disagreed with Gerald on NC fish but I agree with Ben that the saffron is a saffron.

I want to see a picture of the nest you make out of tootsie rolls...Yup -- the Neuse, Tar and Dan/Roanoke river basins have both bluehead and bull chubs. In small creeks I think they're all blueheads, but in bigger creeks and rivers we have both species, with blueheads generally more common. Maybe I'll be a bluehead chub for Halloween - my son is an Enderman. I wonder how big a rock I can carry around in my mouth for an hour or two?
"No thanks, a third of a gopher would merely arouse my appetite..."

I think I recall seeing amblops (bigeye chub) with a little red in the fins, probably in French Broad or Toe River basins.
Shiner from New River looks like saffron again.
