good for you for using legal music... it makes it possible for us to use the videos for educational and professional purposes... NANFA cannot use videos that violate copyright.

I wish more people that kept native tanks would make videos and put them on YouTube. Easy to find videos of fish tanks, but it's hard to find good videos of native fish tanks, other than your typical I caught a bass/bluegill yesterday that was too small to eat so I took him home and put him in my 20 gallon tank. It would be nice to get some more serious native keepers to put more videos of their native tanks on YouTube.

Work with Josh, and solicit the forum regularly for videos, and slide shows. I really like this Youtube plan and think it can generate a bit of revenue, and increase our exposure quite a bit. Just need to light a fire under the members butts.

YouTube is what helped to sink the hooks in for the hobby. It's how I became educated in planted tanks and then where I discovered native tanks. I think if we can get a dozen or so members to regularly contribute videos the channel will take off pretty quickly. Once we get the videos it might take a year or so to grow the channel and it will give us some good exposure.

I'll start posting the NANFA page on my videos now too. Not that my channel is very popular but I'll do my small part.

So you sound interested, I would assume Josh would love some help. Thanks for whatever you can do. I can't promise you a Christmas bonus, but I can promise gratitude. I look forward to seeing this project evolve. It will probably take a while, like you mentioned, but we cannot expect instant results from an all volunteer organization.

"I can't promise you a Christmas bonus, but I can promise gratitude." So I assume a "jelly of the month club" enrollment is not forthcoming either, Clark? Not even a gar caviar sample pouch? Dang, and I was in this for the money...

Kidding aside, one of the things I really like about NANFA is that it is a labor of love, or perhaps I should say "loves". Even those fortunate enough to have professions in fields directly addressing natives go above and beyond here. I take great pleasure in our native finny fauna, and am glad you are there for them, actively participating in their existences. Thanks to all, whatever your part may be!

Here's another video of my sunfish tank. The music isn't stock but you're welcome to use it if you want. It's nothing special just another relaxing video. Hope you all like it.

I might make some videos of the local stream next summer. Only problem, I'm not Nanfa. That might change soon. In this stream there are some minnows, blacknose dace, sculpins, suckers, sunfish. Would that be worth making a video?

Clear, well shot video of any stream is "worth it"... we are interested in the native habitat and the native inhabitants...

And whattaya mean you're not NANFA... join already... ask Santa for a membership!

I was feeding the fish the other day and really liked the way they were looking so I shot some video and got some good closeups. This video is a bit longer than most just because I got some really good footage and didn't want to waste any of it. The stock list in this tank has changed quite a bit lately. I took out a lot of the random native fish I had in here. Now, I just have a few groups of different fish. Currently in there are: 11-12 Iowa darters, 5 southern redbelly dace, 4 spotfin shiners, and 7 juvenile rainbow shiners (more of those on the way next week). I know the name of the video is kind of a rip off of the fish in focus articles on the NANFA page. If that's a problem I can change it. If it's not a problem, I was actually thinking about doing a video series on my channel called Fish In Focus, where I would do a video focusing on just one species in each video talking about care requirements, natural environment, size, etc... I could make sure I use royalty free music with the videos too so NANFA could use them on their page. Let me know if that would be a problem. Anyways, hope you like it.

I really like your video and I really like your idea of shooting single fish videos.

I don't like the idea of this video being called fish in focus... but I do like the idea of you making others with royalty free music that focus on only one species and calling those fish in focus would be great... and then we could even link those to the NANFA Fish In Focus on the website... I mean those are member written articles... why not member produced videos... as long as they are extra clear, in focus, edited down, and totally legal (both in the taking and in the music). I can work with you to get them linked to the NANFA web site once you have them set up appropriately.

Nice work.

What do you have in there in regards to producing water movement? It seems fast enough to give your shiners enough resistance that they can frolic, yet calm enough that your plants are able to thrive. I'm in the middle of setting up a 150 stream tank and will be going on the excessive side of producing current.

Also, thumbs up on getting your darters to eat pellets! Very impressive! I wish I had the tolerance to get mine pellet trained. Alas I will be buying flats of bloodworms, etc. for the rest of my life.

I just have an FX5 filter. It's rated at 900gph. The darters are tank raised from Zimmermans. In fact, the only thing in there that's wild caught anymore are the spotfin shiners. The darters were eating shrimp pellets from day one. I got the darters and daces from Zimmermans and the rainbow shiners from imperial tropicals

WOW... beautiful tanks and fishes!
Is that pre-spawn behavior in that last video?
Are your longears also from so. IL?
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Yes the longears and the creek chubs are from Southern IL. Those are all wild caught. As far as the pre spawn behavior, if you're referring to the redbelly daces then probably. They've been doing it for quite a whole though. They do that all the time it seems. I've never tried breeding any fish before so I don't really plan on doing anything about it, but it sure makes them color up so I don't mind.
