I think a school of active small fish would be less work and more interesting. Bluefin killifish maybe, or some dace.

Greens are always a good choice! I've pretty much decided on one for my 55 and can't wait for it!

Has anyone ever tried to keep a single green and a single longear in a tank together? Seems like it could be a recipe for disaster, but wondering if it's worked before?

Ok, so I've removed everything but the single dominant longear. I'm having a hard time getting rid of him. He just looks so awesome. But, by himself the tank looks empty and he's a little skittish. Anytime I get close he retreats to hide and he doesn't come out much anymore. Would a school of spotfin shiners in there be enough to get him to feel comfortable again or would he just try and eat them? His mouth really isn't big enough for a larger spotfin. Plus they are faster than he is. I just didn't know if they would make good dithers or not. I'm just worried that he would just constantly chase them around until he either killed them or they jumped out of the tank. What do you all think?
