See how long they'll last in there with their parents. It is fun to watch nature run its course. If/when the fry all disappear they pair will lay again. You'll have no shortage of cichlid fry.

Which would be the best method to remove the fish fry? Syphon? Netting? I don't think I'll be too successful using a net.

If you need tubing, there is potable water tubing available at the big box home improvement stores. I'd start with 1/2 or 5/8" to give you more control and less speed draining, but you can accomplish speed control by how much a drop it is to your bucket.
