It has gotten a little rediculous (in a good way). Not only do I have to experiment with food sizes based on variety and size but there are also tanks that have fry which were obviously hatched previous to others that are much larger and need larger foods. Thankfully my system can accomodate experimenting with different foods in case it doesn't get eaten much more than if each growout tank stood alone.
I have yet to see any fry from the spawning of the Etheostoma variatum. I am surprised (but not disappointed) that I haven't seen any Etheostoma flabellare by now. The one I really have wanted to get fry from are Percina evides but I haven't seen them spawn, which really doesn't mean much since I haven't actually seen a number of these fish spawn. I have seen a bit of increased chasing going on though which hopefully is a good sign. I did walk in on a male and a couple females (who are definitely gravid) Etheostoma rufilineatus looking as though they were going to spawn again. Same with Etheostoma lawrencei.

Finally! I can add Etheostoma flabellare to the list.

How are you getting these guys to spawn, anyway? I thought they needed a cooldown period...

I did put them through a "winter" cycle. I am in the middle of writing an American Current article explaining the process I use.

I guess that depends on how soon I can get it ready and which issue the editors have room for the article.
