sometimes a floating shrimp or krill will get them used to the idea that its you that throws stuff in the tank... then they will start striking anything you throw in... then you can switch to a pellet.

UPDATE: My fish have finally started taking fish food. After around seven days of nothing to eat they decided (with the guidance of the sunfish) it was time to eat. My sunfish was attacking anything that dropped in. I also added 5 tiny feeder fish (that came from a amazing looking aquarium funny enough) and they were eaten immediately. Thank you everyone for helping me get started! Cant wait till I can try to do another tank! (probably be a while though, until I have more experience
