I had this one published in a haiku journal a year or two ago:

All day I listen.

The river tells me nothing

but catfish.

(the 5-7-5 rule isn't followed in English, generally, but I almost did by accident)

You may submit as many entries as you wish.  Again, one only per post, pleeez.  When the entries start winding down I'll take a call for nominations, and then put up the poll.

Riffles left behind

Spread from Maine to Florida

Only two darters

(yes, ok, the tesselate does not quite reach Maine, but you get my point. Only still water darters could ride stream capture up and down the whole east coast)

Swift, riffly waters

New chases, new fishes, joy

A little boy once more

Swift, riffly waters

Old chases, old fishes, joy

The treasure of age.

This pairing is truly lovely. Thank you, Matt, I really enjoyed all of your submissions.
