Does anyone have any information on the range of the "Smoky dace", Clinostomus sp. cf. funduloides? I know that it's present in southwestern NC and extreme northeastern GA but can't seem to find much information on range beyond that. Also, what are some of the characteristics that have led experts to conclude this is a distinct species? I will be in the area in a couple weeks and wouldn't mind snapping a few pics of both C. funduloides and this species.

We caught them near Franklin, NC several years ago.  The colored band on smoky dace is much much defined and slender.  Here's are comparison photos.
