Not sure about the whole state, but I caught and kept a redfin from the Okefenokee area of Georgia. So they are in the southern part of the state for sure.

Does anyone know any good places to collect them around Atlanta? I'm looking for some for a small pond.

I live around middle Georgia and both are extremely common. No stream seems to be too small or nasty for them in my experience.

I'm in Tifton. We catch many here in swamps and steams but usually swampy areas. The ones we catch are all redfin. They are easy to catch.
