My cousin has started raising some Blue Gills with a Red eye bass. He has them in a 50 gallon tank, he has four Blue gills around dime size to fifty cent piece size. The Red eye is the size of a quarter, and it nips at the Blue Gills. It won't let them get within a certain area of it. It nips at the Blue Gill that's twice it's size!

I thought Red Eyes were not that agressive :? My cousin seperated them and put the Red eye in a 10 gal.

Did he have the bass in the tank for a while before he added the Red eye bass?

Redeye or any Micropterus bass for that matter can be very territorial and aggressive, even at small sizes. They do not make very good aquarium fish unless you are willing to devote an entire tank to one of them. Redeye being one of the smaller bass could probably live out their life just fine in a 50 gallon tank but it will be difficult to keep much else with them (maybe not impossible, but difficult).
