If you're worried about two feet of ice on your water, you're living WAY too far north. But I would guess that pygmy killifish can withstand temperatures close to freezing at least in short exposures. The Okeefenokee area is prone to freezes, and like Martin pointed out the area is infested with pygmys.

All these suggestions are making me want to set up a pygmy killifish tank. And I don't even have spare space (or money)!

The good news is, you don't need much of either for pygmies.
