Irate, during the convention in MS we took a trip down into LA. We collected in some very small streams there and there were quite a few shadows taken. I suppose you still know where that is? Or maybe those were BG's spots?

Yeah, I know those sites, but you don't have to travel that far to get shadows - they are all over the place in my home zone.

I have 2 Shadow Bass, I ordered 5 from Sachs Systems, unfortunately they got lost in the mail for a week and a half. The box was smashed and wet when I got it. Three were dead because their bags popped. The other two were OK because he used breather bags. Sachs was very accomindateing even though it was not his fault.

I had hoped to breed them but I'm not sure if the ones I have are the same sex or not.
One is about 7" & the other is a lot smaller maybe 4.5" and its the omega of the tank.

They are great fish I wish I could get more & try and breed them.

Mike

That's odd, I caught some bass that looked exactly like the shadow bass pic waaayyyy up here in Montreal. Does their range extend all the way up here?

It's a different species from the Tennessee River drainage and north, Ambloplites rupestris (rock bass) vs. A. ariommus (shadow bass) in the Gulf of Mexico drainage.

We do have Rock Bass in Louisiana, I caught 8 small ones 1 to 1.5 inch. long in early October. They were netted in Washington Parish, LA. These guys appear to be very hardy. I am feeding them freez dried blood worms now until they grow out a little more.

Anyone know the northernmost state(s) the shadow bass occur in? How about a reccommendation on where I could find a decent range map covering these guys?

What's with the disjunct pop's in Arkansas? Is that real or just an artifact of this type of map?

I was wondering the same thing, shouldn't those be Ozark Bass that far west?
