Anybody can join, but you must participate in at least one C/A trip a year to remain an active member.

DREWISH, you have not offically joined - although you made a comment in this thread, you actually have to SAY you are joining :wink:

I will be making it to the NANFA convention next year if it is held in NC. Maybe we can have a C/A breakout session if you guys attend as well? :D

Too early to tell if I'll be there, but since I missed last year, then this is my year...

You don't have just one tree climbing nail, you are normally born with two of 'em. Unfortunately my "dew nails" were removed when I was just a few days old. I wish I could have voiced an opinion on the matter! So anyway, southerners who have become involuntarily disabled in this fashion may still join.

Now, if you had your dew nails removed and were old enough to know what you were doing...well, that's another matter!

Here's a start, feel free to play with it or come up with something different.

To be a catfish is a calling;
We're not quite like those other folks.
Quickmud is no cause for stalling;
I Slide down stream banks without falling,
And laugh at Irate's stupid jokes.

I pledge to ever wield my seine
At the drop of dime of hat.
The madtom sting shall cause no pain -
Crying out will bring me shame;
The catfish does not welcome that.

I am a lowly catfish, yes.
We are few and we are humble.
But as a catfish I am blessed:
Black water relieves my stress
And friends make sure I never stumble.

I'm bumping this thread because we have new members who wish to join The Catfish Alliance. Anybody wishing to join must post their intentions in this thread. Also a picture of their tree-climbing toenail.

So you're looking for new members who aren't Homo sapiens?

I want to join, I was born in da swamp and raised in da swamp. When I catch a large catfish I cook em over an open fire with a whole bottle O' spices on top. :cool:

The thermometer hit a 100 degrees yesterday.

I'd like to join. How do I find out when the trips are? I'll put up a picture of my tree-climbing nail once I get my camera back.

My tree-climbing toe-nails:

YIKES !!!

I guess I'm more of the Wading kind than the Tree-Climbing (frightening Boogie-man) type of Catfish.

You guys have a very exclusive sub-society.

Secretive. Selective. Freaky-weird. Muddy. Swampshwishquatch-esque.

If it hadn't been for the toe-nail thing I might have qualified.

d.d.

We don't actually have trips. We just kind of say, "Hey, I'm gonna be at the Tchoutacabouffa next Sunday, wanna meet up?" And next thing you know a bunch of people show up. Extra points are granted if you bring along a musical instrument of some sort. We haven't figured out what the points are good for yet.

Hey Irate,
I should be a member since I tried to die on a trip to Louisiana once. Eh?

So, usually stuff local to you, eh? That's a long drive for me. Do you guys ever come up to the mid-south? Late April would be good. There are lots of darters and minnows in breeding color and it's when they hold the World's Largest Fish Fry in Paris, TN.
