Here is a six inch walleye I caught and released. I have nowhere to keep a fish that could easily attain 24", but I thought I would post a photo taken from my cellular phone. I can catch walleyes this size on a regular basis and would be more than willing to give them to some local people with large tanks.

Agreed, Butch. I'd only plan on keeping it in a 125g while it was still smallish, and move it to a 250 or larger as it grew. For folks not able/willing to have such large tanks, perch are a far, far better choice. I've had them before, and really enjoyed them. I probably won't end up asking for the walleye (as I said, I don't think state regs will allow it), but would consider it. I'm a live foods fanatic, so that part wouldn't be an issue...Bad idea about give the walleye to some people with large tanks because not lots of people has 200+ gallons tank and it would be expensive to keep walleye alive while it is in the tank. (live foods, temp, wastes, tank size, fish size......you got this idea). Perch are much cheaper than walleye. I dont like to see big gamefish in the "average" home aquarium because the people thought the juvies are cute/cool looking so they take it home and put them in their own tank then they cannot afford to take care of the outgrown gamefish in long run. But its only IMO. sorry if I sound like hard-core.

Depends on the laws of the state you live in...usually crappie minnows or earthworms on hook.so how do you catch a walleye that size?
