my friend has what he thinks are mud darters. he is interested in breeding them. he has them in a 5.5 gallon aquarium with a betta and a cory cat. there are about 5 of them so he prob has male and female. the substrate is black sand. the aquarium is planted and has a piece of driftwood in the middle which they perch on. so Can he breed them in this setup? what does he do? Btw i got him on to native fish keeping this summer

i think it is kinda small, most NA natives require a triggar to spawn, (like temp shift, light change, water quality change ect)
a 5.5 gal tank would be hard to keep stable (well I would have a hard time anyway)
on a small tank small changes are more drastic
