Like you, I share an interest in native fish and plants both aquatic and terrestrial. I must admit I need alot of help when it comes to aquatic plants. I lack both ID as well as husbandry skills with native aquatic plants. I know for a fact you share common interest with actually many of us here. It's funny how many of us enjoy gardening, fishing and natives at home as well. I look forward to your input in the forum.
I'll leave some your technical questions to others but I think many of the features you've requested are availble. There mey be some conflict since you just joined. We'll get to work on it.

I think the directory structure is a bit too complex? Too many forums. FWIW. Except there is no politics and religion forum
People said the same thing about AP when we started 2 years ago. Now, it would be extremely hard to divide all those posts out and change anything. Other sites have all their crap lumped together...to the point you can't find anything. Makes me happy to see people break the information down....so you can easily navigate once you understand the layout.

Hey thanks for starting this site up
. I wasn't invited by anybody but I saw you link over at AP and thought this is the perfect site. I don't have as much knowledge about fish in general but I would have to say that I know more about Natives. And I will try to help out as much as possible.
Thanks again

Thanks for joining Wolfie. This would actually be a good place to try and get a positive ID on your "hybrid". There are some of us who believe it is a hybrid, but the more opinions you can get the better.

Does anyone have the same problem I am having in that I have to log in twice? I like to use the "read new posts" feature, but find that it only shows up after I have logged in a second time.
Are you blocking cookies? The site tries to set a cookie the first time you login and if it can't it may be asking for your credentials again.

I just tried logging in again, to see what happens. I logged in, and the resulting page looked the same as before. I then hit the "US Native Fish" headline bar thingie to see if that might refresh things. Nope. I logged in a second time, and then magically the page changed to the one that shows when I am logged in. I have no idea what might be different the second time. Did it the same way.

This thing is kind of complicated, so if I'm doing something wrong, please let me know

Peace.

Glad to know you Mark! Please post alot!Well, just checking to see if I can do this. I haven't really ventured into this forum format before. Seems like everyone is pretty anonymous, though I know who some of you are
I suppose it is hazardous to put one's personal info out there on the wild, wild, cyberspace west. Anyway, this is Mark. I probably won't post much, but will likely drop by from time to time. Hint: I'm in California... southern California. Only been here two years. There are no freshwater fish here! Well, not compared to the east, anyway. There's hardly any freshwater here!

Really, if you spend a little bit of time, you will see that this forum is pretty simple. As long as you stick to native fish, I am sure you will make few mistakes. Considering that Cali is poor in species, remember that the trading post is a great place to find fish that you may want, and there are also a couple of licensed native fish dealers here. Matt
