That's what I was thinking, but I can't think of could be used that wouldn't funk during the time it took to be ingested.Maybe use what ever you want to gut load them with as the only substrate?

You could try to find a substrate that could also be food but I think the casings(worm poo) would build up over time anyway. I know that the baby cereal I feed would go moldy after a week or so. that's why I feed no more than what they will eat in a day or two.
