Feed trained Perca Flavescens in an outdoor cage

These are about 250 feed trained 7 to 11 inch yellow perch (I hatched and feed trained most of them last year) and some are from a supplier. Note how aggressive feeders they are. Two things I have learned raising perch: (Click on picture and the enlarge for the best effect. There is sound.) The pond is near a highway so there is background semi noise.

1.) They can be trained to be aggressive feeders via feed training and competitive feeding.


2.) They are supposed to be a coolwater species but these fish feed even more aggressively at higher temps so far up to 90 F. on the surface. (That was two weeks ago and the temp quickly dropped to the lower 80's in the bottom of the 4 foot deep cage.) I have found that really large perch (over 12 inches) don't care for such warm temps and can actually stress and die in very warm temps.

My goal is to grow the fastest growing and largest perch possible.

I know this is not tank culture but I thought someone might be interested.
