When you guys go collecting your darters, take some of the stream bottom (i.e.
Sand, gravel etc.) too. Keep it aerated just as you would the fish until you get home. Seed your aquarium gravel with stream substate. Why you ask? The stream substrate contains the natural organisms that the darters live on. When these organisms multiply there's another living food source for the darters in between their regular feedings. An undergravel filter in your tank will aerate
your gravel better helping the organisms thrive and might induce your darters to breed. Worked for me.
